What movies to see before a city break

According to the chosen destination

I know I already mentioned city break and that makes you think of a holiday or even a long weekend. But, in the end, there is reason for joy even if you leave with your job in a fine destination. Especially if it’s a new town, which haven’t seen till now. Or… maybe you have. In one of the films below.

Under the Tuscan Sun

A romantic comedy, directed by Audrey Wells, Under the Tuscan Sun is production that will bring a smile to your face. After a recent divorce, a writer (played by Diane Lane) goes on vacation in Italy and buys a house somewhere in the Tuscany region. It’s also a love story, of course, with Marcello (Raoul Bova). And everything happens in a dream-like atmosphere in the most beautiful places in Positano, Cortona, Florence. If you haven’t seen it yet, this movie is going to put you in the holiday mood.

Palermo Shooting

As we we learn from the very name of the film, the movie was filmed in Palermo, but also in the picturesque surroundings of the town of Sicily. And no, shooting from the title does not refer to conflicts with Sicilian mafia: it’s the story of a famous photographer (played by Campino) who needs a break from his chaotic life, and leaves for Palermo. Director Wim Wenders shows us the beauty of this town, but also its surroundings.

Mamma Mia!

You’ve surely seen this movie, starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Amanda Seyfried, and directed by Phyllida Lloyd. But, if you miss Greece, it deserves an encore. The breathtaking landscapes are from Skopelos, Skiathos, Pelion. And the story will cheer you up: a young woman who is about to get married is trying to find and know her father. Everything, in the grand company of the lovely ABBA songs.

Midnight in Paris

With its irresistible humor, director Woody Allen gives us a marvelous glimpse of Paris in a production that made headlines. Gil Pender (played by Owen Wilson) is a writer who went on vacation to Paris together with his fiancée (Rachel McAdams). One night, he meets some famous characters, which takes him back in the past, into the world of art and literature. And, of course, in the most beautiful places in the city of love.

The Wolf of Wall Street

Before a travel in the United States, relax with this sensational film, directed by Martin Scorsese, with Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role. Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, the film recounts how a broker reaches the top of the success, but also depicts a world where corruption and drugs captures everything and everybody. All of it, with lots of scenes shot in New York, the city that seduces everyone.
