Vacation and good wine

I’ve chosen for you five holiday destinations where you care taste some exceptional wines

1

Catalonia, Spain

Because the weather here is warm – in Catalonia is sunny even in the winter – it’s a perfect region for growing grape species famous all over the world for their remarkable wine quality. Go to Cava Designation of Origin, in Penedes region. Besides wine tastings, you can also take part to special classes where you can learn about the most suitable wine for a certain dish. Bonus: lots of spa resorts perform beauty treatments – with wine, of course.

2

Istria, Croatia

In Istria, surrounded by water, you can always enjoy good wine and exceptional food. Talking about food, expect fresh seafood and home made pasta. Deciding for the wine, that’s not an easy choice, but you have to try Malvasia Istriana (locals call it Malvazija Istarska), a fruity fresh white wine, and Teran, a rich red wine. If you get here in October you can take part at the harvesting of wine grapes – and surely you will like it.

3

Alentejo, Portugal

Besides that any trip to Portugal is one experience you will want to live again, Alentejo region is well known for its wines: there are over 250 producers here, and the vineyards cover an area of 22 000 hectares. The best time for a visit is November, when Festa da Vinha e Vinho (the Festival of Wine and Vineyard) takes place in Borba. Then, in December, there is another festival in Cabecao: producers offer the most recent wines for tasting, the ones from the latest harvest.

4

Bordeaux, France

This is the homeland of one of the most famous wines in the world. In Bordeaux you can walk, bike or take a trip with a boat – there are a lot of guided tours. Saint-Emillion is one of the most famous towns for its exceptional wines, but also for its history and old, but well-preserved buildings. This small medieval town is just an hour drive away from Bordeaux and it is surrounded by 5500 hectares of vineyard.

5

Tuscany, Italy

It is famous for its landscapes, its cultural events but also its beautiful cities, such as Florence. You can enjoy a spectacular landscape, with sandy beaches but also mountains, not to speak about the islands in Toscana’s archipelago, with Mediterranean vegetation and turquoise sea. And, of course, the region offers you the best wines – choose a wine trip leaving from Siena or Florence. Drink the best Chianti and think of us!
