TOP 10 safest countries in the world in 2017

And a few things that you probably didn’t know about them

If you still needed a reason to plan a holiday in Finland, you have it now: it was declared the safest country in the world in 2017. It’s on the first place in the rankings conducted by the World Economic Forum and there is no reason to contradict this classification. Well, if you’re the sort of person who worries before going on holiday wondering what unpleasant surprises will expect you at destination, it’s safest to go in one of the countries below, which have been declared the most secure in the world.

1

Finland

If the Finnish winters are glacial and look kind of like in the Chronicles of Narnia (yet with the chance of seeing the northern lights), the summer days are gorgeous, especially in the North. For example, did you know that, in the North, in June and July the sun never sets? That’s why Finland is also called the land of the midnight sun.

2

United Arab Emirates

It’s a perfect place for holidays, especially when it’s cold in Europe. However, lovers should be warned not to display their passion too ardently in public. A British couple was arrested for a month because they were kissing on the streets.

3

Iceland

The first democratic country in which a woman was elected President (in 1980), Iceland has much to offer, from Reykjavik, the capital, and the northern lights, up to the outdoors spa, the famous Blue Lagoon where the water is warm even in the middle of winter. Annually, on March 1st is celebrated the beer day, while every Saturday sweets have a 50% discount.

4

Oman

The perfect country for an exotic holiday – amazing weather, good food, stunning architecture – but also an opportunity to understand its wonderful traditions. If you get to Ibra, be sure to go the market. Here you’ll find the only market – called souk – where only women are allowed. They sell and buy from veggies and spices to clothes and jewelry. Men’s access is forbidden.

5

Hong Kong

A stop that you need to make in any of your Asian travel, Hong Kong is a place of contrasts. Skyscrapers versus tiny apartments, and even some metal cages, the so-called cage apartments, which often have only two square meters. For those who come on holiday, however, Hong Kong has many tempting proposals – think only of those over 40 beaches here.

6

Singapore

Here it was built the tallest waterfall, Jurong Falls. Still, here is the famous Marina Bay Sands hotel with its fabulous infinity pool on the top floor, where you get the feeling that you are swimming on top of the world. And, as a peculiarity, we must add that it is forbidden to import and sale chewing gum – the only exception makes the one used for therapeutic purposes.

7

Norway

If you have children, you’ve surely heard of Arendalle, the imaginary land from the Frozen animation. Well, this fairy-tale realm was inspired by the picturesque Norway landscapes, more specifically by the city of Bergen from the Nordic fjords. Should we say more to convince you of how beautiful is this country?

8

Switzerland

It’s famous for its watchmaking, but also for its delicious chocolate. And for its… fountains. Yes, you read correctly: in Zurich there are more than 1200 fountains, and most of them have safe drinking water. So you don’t have to worry if you get thirsty when you leave for a walk in the city.

9

Rwanda

One of the cleanest countries in Africa, Rwanda has the highest number of women in Parliament – one of the only two countries in the world with over 50% of women in Parliament. Rwanda is also known as the Land of the Thousand Hills, due to its mountain relief.

10

Qatar

Doha has become one of the trendiest vacation destinations. Among the attractions are the skyscrapers from Dafna, an area that was completely under the sea. In fact, in Arabic, dafna means buried – practically, the sea was covered with sand for these skyscrapers to be built.
