The new fashion trends – Part 2

Check out the most important fall-winter fashion trends from London, Paris and New York

1

The printed sweater

You probably thought that the sweater doesn’t have its place on the catwalk. Well, far from the truth: especially that the sweater represents la piece de resistance in the cold season. The ones I liked most, you might ask? The red sweater from Paul & Joe, the one with flowers from Antonio Marras, the panther sweater from Gucci and the exquisite piece in blue, white and red from Sacai.

2

Fringes

The new fringed dresses of the season immediately make us think about exclusive parties. The designers propose light, metallic colors, and sometimes they associate fringes with lace and semitranslucid materials. The hottest looks? Balmain, Dolce&Gabbana, Erdem, Valentino or Stephane Rolland.

3

Baroque

Brocade, rich prints and the shiny precious materials – they all herald an opulent season, with sophisticated dresses, fur and coats. Gucci comes up with a fantastic metallic trench, Miu Miu and Cavalli have rich prints, and Antonio Marras goes even further with an unexpected pairing: a fur coat with flowers and sport shoes.

4

Ruffles

The black gowns with ruffles are perfect for a black tie dress code, even on the red carpet. And they are all the more spectacular when the ruffles are applied on lace or semi-transparent fabrics. The most iconic pieces are signed by Roberto Cavalli, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Dolce&Gabbana, Rodarte or Balmain.

5

Velvet

It is, by definition, a luxurious material. And if the black velvet ones are not necessarily a novelty, well, those in shades of pale pink or nude are absolutely gorgeous. The ones from Alberta Ferretti, Luisa Beccaria, Preen, Valentino or Genny have made headlines.

6

Floral print

Although, several years ago the floral print seemed to be synonymous with the warm weather, there are now already a few seasons when we see it in the autumn-winter collections. It’s a lavish print, with many bright colours, just like in the Dolce&Gabbana, Balenciaga, Paul Smith or Anthony Vaccarello shows.

7

Glitter

An absolutely shiny trend that takes your eyes away and recounts once again of the flamboyant 80s influences. You can choose a glittery skirt, just like Nina Ricci’s, a short dress, as in Saint Laurent collection, or a long glitter dress with velvet accents, as I saw at Preen.

8

The black jacket

It’s an item that shouldn’t be missing from any woman’s wardrobe. And it has just received an upgrade in the recent collections: the black jacket can be classic, short (as in Saint Laurent), from jacquard (as in Dolce&Gabbana) or simply cut just in front (as I’ve seen in the Costume National show).

9

Highlighted shoulders

Bare or accentuated by touches of color, the shoulders are highlighted in the Prada, Balmain, Dior, Mary Katrantzou or Delpozo collections. Those with bare shoulders are perfect outfits for evening or amazing parties.

10

Unexpected cuts

The oversized pieces have now surprising cuts, which immediately attract anyone’s attention: the black jacket from Balenciaga is tight in the upper part and widens from the waist down, Marni has cut a skirt just in front, and J W Anderson proposes an oversized look, with overlapping fabrics that mimic the petals of a flower.
