Frederique Constant – Accessible luxury

Because time is on your side!

The Frederique Constant brand was established, in its present form, in 1988. Aletta Bax and Peter Stas launched their first collection in 1992: it encompassed six models assembled by a watchmaker in Geneva. The label ”Frederique Constant”, though, was given by two names: Frederique Schreiner (1881-1969) and Constant Stas (1880-1967).

The current Managing Director of Frederique Constant S.A., Peter Stas, is a fourth generation descendant of Constant Stas, founder of the company, in 1904, at that time producing printed clock dials for the watch industry. Frederique Constant has exhibited at the World Watch, Clock and Jewellery Show in Basel since 1995. As the company flourished, Aletta Bax and Peter Stas decided to move to Geneva themselves, to develop the brand in the heart of this watchmaking capital.

Today, Frederique Constant is involved in all stages of production, from idea, to design, and up to the final assembly. The watches are designed either by the company’s staff, either by contracted freelance designers when the creation of specific models or series is desired. A strong emphasis is placed on the design of the watches, so as to be in step with the trends, and, moreover, with the final customer’s preferences.

Frederique Constant uses cutting-edge technology in the creation of each model, but in the heart of the company stand the people: the watchmakers, especially because each watch is individually assembled by hand. To be successful at Frederique Constant, a watchmaker has to be truly passionate about his work.

“Our mission is not to limit the access and interest in the Frederique Constant timepieces for a narrow and elitist circle of connoisseurs, but rather to extend it to more people, enthusiasts who want to enjoy high quality watches at affordable prices. We pay a very special attention to our client”, said Aletta Bax and Peter Stas.

But how does the production process begin at Frederique Constant? Most frequently, a new model starts from a discussion between the employees of different departments: sales, marketing, communication, and workshops… And that’s because each of Frederique Constant’s employees lives passionately each new launch. After everyone’s views get synchronized, the designer will translate the idea into a drawing, and then into a detailed plan before the launch of any model’s prototype phase.

Each Frederique Constant watch is assembled by hand, checked and controlled over a long period of time by the best professionals, as well as by sophisticated equipment as to ensure an impeccable quality. And that’s because the word compromise does not exist in Frederique Constant’s work vocabulary.

Frederique Constant pays a great deal of attention to each step of the workflow. The brand wants its watches to be classical and traditional whilst remaining timeless. Live your passion is the slogan of the brand, and not by chance: it’s the passion for every detail, for creativity, for continuous innovation, accuracy and consistency that make Frederique Constant a brand where quality time always comes first. So whenever a Frederique Constant owner looks at his watch to feel quality, craftsmanship, and joy.

Live your passion! All the time!
